Commitment: The Real Secret to Freedom

Read time: 2 minutes

Do you know what holds most people back?

It’s not a lack of talent.

It’s not even a lack of motivation.

It’s indecision.

When you don’t commit to something, Life gets harder.

  • Every task feels urgent.

  • Every choice feels overwhelming.

  • And you waste energy wondering, “Should I do this or that?”

I used to think that commitment felt like a trap. Like locking yourself into one path meant giving up all the others.

But here’s what I've learned:

Commitment isn’t a cage — it’s the key to freedom.

When you commit to something, big or small, you make Life simpler.

  • You don’t waste energy debating what to do next.

  • You feel clearer because you’ve already decided.

  • You follow through on what matters.

One of my clients, Patrick, said it perfectly:

When I don’t commit, I feel stressed and stuck. But when I do, everything becomes clear. My choices get easier. My mind feels lighter.”

In other words...

Commitment equals simplicity, my friend.

Instead of feeling stuck in endless choices or drowning in hesitancy, you create a sense of clarity and direction.

When you’ve already committed, your mind is free to focus fully on taking action — not on whether you should or shouldn’t.

And guess what?

Commitment isn’t about saying yes to everything.

It’s about saying "no" to the things that don’t move you forward.

And as such, showing up for the things that do.

  • If you want to be healthy, you commit to daily movement.

  • If you want better relationships, you commit to being present.

  • If you want to grow your business, you commit to focused work.

"But Julian, committing often feels overwhelming. How do I choose the right thing?"

Here’s the real secret:

Commitments don’t have to be huge.

Start small.

  • Pick one thing that matters.

  • Commit to showing up for it every day.

  • Build a system that helps you follow through (like a routine or reminder).

For example:

Want to read more books? Commit to 10 minutes a day.

Want to feel healthier? Commit to walking for 15 minutes after every meal.

How?

Set a recurring alarm on your phone & set out your shoes the night before by the door.

Now that's a real system.

The action doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be consistent.

When you commit, you take control.

No more wasting energy. No more feeling stuck.

Just clarity, freedom, and progress.

So, let me ask you, my friend — what will you commit to today?

With that, thanks for reading!

Much Love,

Julian
