Your Life in 4D: A Framework for Focus
Read time: 2 minutes
Ever feel like everything on your to-do list is equally urgent?
Your team needs you.
Your clients are waiting.
And your long-term goals? They’re slipping further away.
Sound familiar?
You’re not alone.
Many entrepreneurs face this constant pressure — where everything feels like it’s on fire, and you don’t know where to start.
But here's the thing:
When everything feels urgent, nothing really is.
The problem isn’t that you have too much to do. It’s that your attention is spread too thin.
Where attention goes, energy flows”
Your focus is like planting seeds.
Each day, you choose which seeds to water. The ones you nurture grow into sprouts — and eventually, they bear fruit.
But if you try to water all the seeds at once, none of them thrive.
They get just enough to survive but not enough to grow.
I learned this the hard way.
When I first started my coaching practice, I tried to do everything:
Be involved in every decision.
Respond to every email the second it came in.
Take on clients who weren’t aligned with my vision.
By the end of the day, I was drained, but nothing really moved forward.
That’s when I realized I needed to be intentional with my focus.
Now, I start each day with one question:
What’s most important for me to water today?
I pair this with clear intentions:
What’s my top priority?
Who do I want to be today?
What actions will make the biggest impact?
This simple shift changed everything. Instead of reacting to everything, I now focus on what truly matters.
“But Julian, that’s easier said than done.
How do I actually decide what matters most when everything feels important? How do I stop feeling like I’m juggling 100 things at once?”
Great question. Let me introduce you to The 4D Framework.
It's what I use to stay focused.
Here's how it works:
Do: High-impact tasks aligned with your goals.
Delegate: Tasks someone else can handle.
Defer: Schedule tasks that aren’t urgent for later.
Delete: Let go of tasks that don’t add value.
Think of this like choosing which seeds to water:
‘Do’ tasks are the sprouts you nurture today.
‘Delegate’ tasks are seeds someone else can water.
‘Defer’ tasks are seeds to water later.
‘Delete’ tasks are the weeds you pull out.
When you prioritize this way, you take back control of your time, energy, and focus.
So, let me ask you, my friend:
What seeds are you watering today?
Take five minutes to list everything on your plate. Then, use the 4D Framework to sort through it.
You’ll be amazed at the clarity it brings — and how much lighter you feel.
That’s it for me on this one.
Thank you for reading!
Happy Holidays & Much Love,
Julian
